Key still sticking out
Does the key still stick out of the lock a bit? Then you're in luck. Often, the key can then be easily removed from the lock with pliers. Do this carefully so you don't push the key further into the lock. If it doesn't work with pliers, then tweezers or nail clippers might be another option.
Tip: Use WD40 to make the key easier to loosen.
The key broke off deep in the lock.
Is the key deep in the lock? Then there's still hope! Grab a thin piece of iron (paperclip/needle/fishing hook) and try to get it past the key into the lock so that it hooks onto the back of the key. Then gently pull the key out.
