Pay attention to the SKG quality mark!

The Foundation for Quality Facade Construction (SKG) is an independent organization that tests locks for strength and durability. When a lock meets their standards for burglary resistance, it receives stars (maximum 3). The number of stars indicates the burglary resistance.

SKG* (1 star)

SKG One star is not enough. Locks with one star must be combined with additional security measures. Therefore, one-star cylinders are only recommended for interior doors.

SKG** (2 stars)

Most locks are SKG, it is important to know that these locks do not protect against a popular burglary method called cylinder snapping. Therefore, the Police also advise a minimum security class SKG*** cylinders. It would also be possible to install a cylinder guard.

SKG*** (3 stars)

Cylinders that have achieved 3 stars are equipped with anti-snap protection. This ensures that the cylinders are resistant to burglary methods such as lock picking, the bump key method, and cylinder snapping.

What are the costs of replacing a cylinder lock?

The cost of replacing a door lock depends on the brand, material, and size of the lock. Small mortise locks start at approximately €35,-. Are you looking for a better lock that also provides good security, that will quickly go to the €50,-. This also includes the cost of installation unless you install it yourself. We recommend never cutting corners on your locks.
